Intestinal Tract Microbe Communities Associated with Horseshoe Crabs from Beibu Gulf, China

In November 2018, three adult Chinese horseshoe crab samples (prosomal width: 122 mm, mean weight: 143 g) and three adult mangrove horseshoe crab samples (prosomal width: 102 mm, mean weight: 86 g) were collected from the mangrove intertidal zone of Jiaodong Village, Jiangping Town, Fangchenggang City, Guangxi, China . Samples were stored in ice and transported to the laboratory. The body surface was washed with sterile water and disinfected with 75% ethanol. Surgical scissors were used to extract a portion of the intestinal tract of each sample. Intestinal samples were mixed in equal amount, placed in sterile microcentrifuge tubes until analysis.
