X-ray emission from recent classical novae
收藏资源简介:
Detection of Xray emission from classical novae in their postoutburst stageswould provide crucial information about the nova phenomenon. The analysis ofthe emission in soft Xrays, together with that in the UV range, would enableto do a deep study of the remaining hot nuclear burning shell, whereas the hardXray emission would provide diagnostics of the internal or external shocksin the nova shells. The unprecedented sensitivity and spectral resolution ofXMM instruments will permit to deduce crucial parameters of the nova evolution(i.e., mass of the white dwarf, turnoff time scales, mass burned into helium). In this proposal we suggest the observation of 7 recent classical novae, whichhave large possibilities to be detectable, at 3 different epochs. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
