Statistics of broad relativistic lines in AGN: a counts- and flux-limited sampl

We propose to observe 10 Xray unabsorbed Active Galactic Nuclei (AGN) extractedfrom the RXTE Slew Survey (XSS). We aim at completing the XMMNewton coverage ofa fluxlimited 210 keV flux > 1 mCrab subsample of the XSS with enoughstatistical quality to unambiguously establish the presence of arelativistically broadened Kalpha iron line in the spectrum of each individualobject. Measuring the fraction of local universe AGN where effects due to arelativistic accretion disk are detected, along with the accurate determinationof the accretion flow physical properties, will allow us to tell if and how thestandard paradigm needs to be modified to explain the origin of the energyoutput in AGN.
