Alaska incorporated and unincorporated community locations. This includes all City and Borough classes, CDP's, and localities (places of interest). It also includes communities/places considered to be historic (no longer populated). A CommunityAreaTypeID field value of 1 indicates location is a Community by this DCRA Definition: Is a City, Borough, or an unincorporated area with a qualified entity that has received money from the Community Assistance Program at least once within the last five (5) consecutive years. For more information on city and borough types, see Local Government in Alaska A CommunityAreaTypeID field value of 2 indicates location is a Place of Interest (POI) by this DCRA Definition: Population Clusters inside a Unified Home Rule Borough or City Population Clusters outside a Unified Home Rule Borough or City Census Areas Census Designated Places (CDPs) that do not meet the definition of a community Seasonally Inhabited Places that include areas with summer cabins or camps Military Bases, Work Camps, and similar areas that are not open to the public Relocation Sites to which residents are moving from a location impacted by erosion or flooding Recreation Sites Vacant Sites of former towns or native villages Commercial Service Areas Resource Development Sites ANCSA Villages See https://dcra-cdo-dcced.opendata.arcgis.com/pages/metadata for these definitions.
