Impact of maternal Faecalibacterium spp. administration on gut microbiota in offspring mice

This study examines the effects of maternal Faecalibacterium species administration on gut microbiota in offspring mice. The bacterial strains Faecalibacterium duncaniae A2-165, Faecalibacterium longum Fl-1 and Fl-2, and Faecalibacterium butyricigenerans Fb-1 were orally administered to mother mice fed a low-fiber diet, along with a control group receiving medium. Cecal content samples were collected from offspring at three weeks of age, and 16S rRNA sequencing targeting the V3-V4 region was performed to analyze gut microbiota composition.
