The Tarifit-Spanish Public Services Corpus is a parallel corpus of Tarifit (Riffian Tamazight) and Spanish, specializing in vocabulary within the public services domain. Tarifit is a Berber language spoken by approximately 4 million people in the Rif region of northern Morocco, as well as diaspora populations in Catalonia, the Netherlands, and Belgium. This represents the first publicly accessible Tarifit-Spanish parallel corpus. The corpus encompasses multiple thematic areas, including greetings, basic communication, urban-focused services, university services, housing, health services, and more. The corpus structure incorporates unique identifiers, Tarifit text in Latin script, Tifinagh script text (where available), Catalan translations, source information, dialect variants, thematic domains, domain labels, entry types, and subcategories. Tarifit is rendered in Latin script, which reflects the code-switching, Arabic loanwords, and French/Spanish loanwords commonly observed in colloquial Tarifit used in urban environments. The corpus was constructed using conversation guides from the University of Barcelona and original materials developed by the authors. The corpus is applicable to translation and text classification tasks, and is particularly well-suited for low-resource language research.
