MECHANICAL INOCULATION OF MAIZE WITH MAIZE CHLOROTIC MOTTLE VIRUS AND SUGARCANE MOSAIC VIRUS

The current study is to understand mechanical inoculation of maize plants with maize chlorotic mottle virus (MCMV) and sugarcane mosaic virus (SCMV). MCMV and SCMV are the major causal viruses of maize lethal necrosis (MLN), a devastating viral maize disease causing up to 100% in yield losses. In this study we review the different ways that are applied during inoculation. The inoculation protocol that is used for MCMV/SCMV is described.
