资源简介:

XRD composition and friction data from the Brian Head Formation in southwestern Utah. Using these data, we model the geometry of the pre-slide volcanic field from which the Sevier gravity slide formed and interpret the conditions along the bedding plane detachment surface prior to initiation. Sixteen samples of the Brian Head Formation were collected (BH-01 through BH-16) to fully characterize the physical properties of the outcrop. Rate-and-friction tests were conducted on all sixteen samples under saturated conditions using an RTX-1000 Rock Triaxial Testing System. XRD data were compiled for each sample using bulk powder and < 2 clay μm mineral analyses. Bulk powder analysis was conducted using the Rietveld method with a Scintag XDS2000 multi-purpose powder diffractor. Raw friction data were processed using the Matlab GUI RSFit3000. Using these friction coefficients, boundary element method models were produced using the two-dimensional displacement continuity method, through which the conditions prior to landsliding could be investigated. The dataset presented consists of raw lithologic data and processed XRD and friction data from the sixteen Brian Head Formation samples as well as a figure summarizing the results of the processed boundary element method models, derived in part from the previously collected friction data.
