This database is manually maintained by a team of experts, and includes textual content, reference citations, and links to relevant external databases such as NCBI and OMIM. Co-founded by Professor Frank Nicholas and Associate Professor Imke Tammen from the Faculty of Veterinary Science, The University of Sydney, Australia, OMIA has been operating as a free online resource for more than 30 years.
