Its total engraved length is 1202 mm. The two sides of the ruler are graduated with equally spaced markings of 0.2 mm and 1 mm, respectively. To facilitate reading, the ruler is fitted with two 7/10-power magnifiers that can be manually moved along the scale graduations. It is commonly used in surveying and mapping operations to check the distances between map sheet corner points, control points and coordinate grid points, and is specified as a standard scale for calibrating leveling staffs in national leveling survey specifications.
