Criteria for the comparative analysis adopted here was that genes with log fold change≤−1 (FC≤0.50) were considered as down-regulated and those with log fold change value≥1 (FC≥2) were considered as up-regulated in seedling, whereby mature leaf sample was taken as the control. However, a few exceptions were there based on the perceived importance of the gene function in relation to the differences in the two plant stages.*Tissue specificity is based on the available Unigene (NCBI) data. It refers to the approximate gene expression pattern as inferred from EST counts. However, for various reasons, EST counts may not be a true indication of gene activity.
