Redistribution of the map: Potential Natural Vegetation of Flanders

The PNV map shows the Potential Natural Vegetation that could develop during natural afforestation. Human interventions that significantly alter hydrology, soil, etc., were not taken into account. The map is optimally used at a scale of 1:20,000. The map is suitable for landscape studies, ecosystem visions, etc., but less so for detailed studies (management plans). The map was developed from the digital soil map and partially inherits its errors. In sea polders and polders in the brackish water area along the Scheldt, forest is not a climax, and these areas were not mapped.
