Hydrogen is a clean and versatile energy carrier with the potential to greatly reduce carbon emissions. The thesis designed two nanocomposite membranes based on two-dimensional materials to overcome the critical challenges in hydrogen energy. Metal oxyhydroxide nanosheets were applied as templates to produce ultrathin carbon molecular sieve membranes, significantly improving hydrogen separation performance. Additionally, monolayer graphene and boron nitride nanosheets were employed to fabricate proton-conducting membranes, achieving enhanced performance in various electrochemical devices such as fuel cells and water electrolyser. This thesis highlights the importance of membrane techniques in advancing hydrogen energy, spanning hydrogen production, purification, and utilization.
