We prepared semi-interpenetrating network (semi-IPN) polymer membranes using linear OPBI and naphthalene ring-containing crosslinkable polyaryletherketone as the base polymers, with amino-terminated small-molecule PBI (PBI-4NH2) as the crosslinker, aiming to fabricate high-temperature proton exchange membranes with enhanced stability for fuel cell applications. Key properties of the as-prepared semi-IPN membranes were investigated and evaluated, including thermal stability, oxidative stability, mechanical properties, phosphoric acid doping level, PA doping level per unit volume, proton conductivity, and single cell performance, with comparisons made against membranes prepared from commercial OPBI.
