Circular Economy Business Case Calculator

The Circular Economy Business Case Calculator is an Excel-based tool designed to assist companies in the economic evaluation of circular economy business models (CBMs). It enables a structured and transparent assessment of financial viability by modelling revenue streams, capital and operating expenditures (CapEX, OpEx) as well as financing costs in detail. The tool provides a clear and visually intuitive graphical representation of the results as an output.The current version (v1.1) of the calculator, developed by the Wuppertal Institute as part of the R-evolve project, covers the following CBMs, including several sub-strategies: Repair, Reuse, Refurbish, Remanufacture, Repurpose, Recycle and Rental. It also enables the parallel calculation and comparison of several scenarios, such as different sales markets or forecasts. Further features and business models will be included in future updates. This tool has been carefully developed and tested. However, minor errors cannot be entirely ruled out.
