Survey data for a social life cycle assessment of nickel mining for host communities in Maba Sub-district, East Halmahera, Indonesia

Anonymised responses of 166 residents of Maba Sub-district, East Halmahera Regency, North Maluku, Indonesia, to an 87-item questionnaire covering seven local community subcategories of the UNEP (2020) social life cycle assessment guidelines. Data were collected from 2 to 15 December 2025. Responses are coded S (agree), N (neutral), TS (disagree) and TT (don’t know/no information) and are given before reverse coding. Names were removed, and age, occupation and villages with fewer than five respondents were grouped to prevent identification. A codebook is included. These data support the article “Local community impacts at the upstream stage of nickel downstreaming in East Halmahera, Indonesia: A social life cycle assessment” (Interaction, Community Engagement, and Social Environment).
