NID Vulnerable Zones in Flanders as defined by the European Directive 91/676/EEC on the protection of waters against pollution caused by nitrates from agricultural sources (the Nitrates Directive). The monitoring points are used to record the nitrate concentrations of surface waters in agricultural areas for the purposes of the Nitrates Directive.
