Environmental Control Bathing Waters (Additional Control of Protected Areas)

Bodies of water with areas declared bathing water must be assessed in accordance with the provisions of Royal Decree 1341/2007 of 11 October 2007 on the management of bathing water quality, transposing Directive 2006/7/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 15 February 2006 on bathing water quality management into Spanish legislation and repealing Directive 76/160/EEC; this Royal Decree establishes the obligation of the environmental authorities to draw up the corresponding profiles of bathing water, consisting of the determination and assessment of the causes of pollution that may affect bathing water and the health of bathers, an assessment of the propensity for the proliferation of cyanobacteria and an assessment of the propensity for the proliferation of jellyfish, macroalgae or phytoplankton; . The sampling stations or sampling points selected for this control shall be identified as an environmental control programme for bathing water.
