Open pit mining areas and tipping

Areas with extreme anthropogenic impacts are the regions with lignite mining. The open-cast mining and tilting areas of Lower Lusatia are shown. Here the natural layer structure is disturbed. Related low-conducting layers are present in the groundwater cover only in remnants or no longer. The retention capacity is generally reduced; it depends on the material of the rearranged layers, tilting technology and restoration measures.
