Distinct and common impacts of Serine/Arginine-rich (SR) proteins on splicing in Marchantia polymorpha

This thesis examined how plants control the way their genes are expressed. It focused on a group of proteins that help organise RNA, the molecules that carry copies of genetic instructions. I studied a simple plant to show how each of these proteins affected growth and gene activity. I identified which parts of gene messages depended on each protein and how losing them changed the plant. This work revealed that these proteins have distinct roles and provided a foundation for understanding how plants adjust their gene use in response to their environment.
