Replication Data for: “Electoral Weakness of Secular Parties in the Middle East and North Africa during the Post-Uprisings Era of the 2010s”

This dataverse contains original quantitative data I collected for my dissertation project. With candidate and household surveys in Tunisia and Turkey, I collected data on political selection patterns and local-level organizational and ideological characteristics of the main secular and Islamist parties. In the dissertation, I argue that the electoral weakness of the main secular parties in the region in post-uprisings period of the 2010s stems from lack of organizational cohesion and highly qualified candidates in these parties as opposed to the Islamist parties.本数据合集收录了我为博士学位论文研究项目采集的原创定量数据。通过在突尼斯与土耳其开展候选人调查与家庭调查，我采集了有关政治遴选模式，以及当地主要世俗政党与伊斯兰政党的基层组织特征与意识形态特征的数据。在本论文中，我提出核心论点：2010年代后起义时期，该区域主要世俗政党的选举弱势，源于其相较于伊斯兰政党，缺乏组织凝聚力与高素质候选人。
