A representative sample of six observation field note documents from the doctoral research titled Mix Preparation in Contemporary Record Production: An Ethnographic Investigation of Foundational Workflows in Digital Audio Mixing (University of West London, 2026). Field notes cover Participants 3, 4, 5, 7, 11, and 13, selected to illustrate the range of preparatory approaches and workflow patterns observed across the full observational dataset of nine assistant mix engineers. Field notes capture procedural sequences, decision points, temporal allocations, and contextual observations as preparation unfolded in real time during Phase 1 ethnographic observations.
