VPRS 4428 Court of Petty Sessions Instalment Book

This series was used to record details of judgment payments which a Court of Petty Sessions permitted to be made in instalments. This procedure was introduced through Section 110 of the Justices of the Peace Act 1887 (No. 953) and was continued through successive Justices Acts. The Rules issued to support the 1887 and 1890 Acts contained the following requirement: "Every clerk of petty sessions shall keep an Instalment Book in the form prescribed in the Schedule hereto, in which he shall enter the register [case] number and date of every order or conviction by which a sum of money is adjudged to be paid by instalments, the name of the person against whom the order or conviction is made, the manner of payment ordered and each instalment as soon as it is paid."本数据集系列用于记录由治安法庭（Court of Petty Sessions）准许以分期付款方式缴付的判决款项详情。该缴付程序由1887年《治安法官法》（Justices of the Peace Act 1887，第953号）第110条确立，并在后续各版治安法官相关法案中得以沿用。为配合1887年与1890年两部法案制定的配套规则包含如下要求："所有治安法庭书记官均须按照本法规附表规定的格式留存分期付款登记账册，在该账册中逐一登记每一项判令或定罪裁决的案号（登记号）与作出日期、判令或定罪所针对的当事人姓名、指定的缴款方式，以及每一笔已缴付的分期付款详情。"
