Energy input data and scenarios as a basis for fulfilling the reporting obligations of the Monitoring Mechanism

In order to fulfil the reporting obligation of the Monitoring Mechanism on emission scenarios for greenhouse gases, the Federal Environment Agency calculated two scenarios for the period up to 2020: One scenario “with measures” takes into account measures already implemented, the second scenario “with additional measures” contains planned measures that are expected to be implemented and effective by 2020. Since a significant part of greenhouse gas emissions is directly attributable to the type and quantity of energy used, energy-related data are necessary to compile the emission scenarios. These were compiled in cooperation with the Institute for Economic Research (WIFO), the Energy Economics Group of the Vienna University of Technology and the Austrian Energy Agency and summarised in the report ‘Energy Input Data and Scenarios’.
