This thesis investigates the synthesis, purification and characterization of novel fused N-heterocyclic compounds namely imidazo[1,2-a][1,8]naphthyridine derivatives. This was followed by the preliminary assessment of their potential to alleviate myocardial contractility (positive inotropy) in cultured cardiomyoblasts.
