Soils worthy of protection in Lower Saxony 1: 50 000 — High soil fertility soils (WMS Service)

Soils that are particularly worthy of protection include soils whose natural functions and their archival function are essentially preserved. Damage to these functions is to be avoided under soil protection law (cf. §1 BBodSchG). An essential factor in assessing the habitat function of a soil is its natural fertility. It identifies the potential of soil for the production of biomass. Soils with very high natural soil fertility are considered particularly worthy of protection. The methods for determining the protection of soils in Lower Saxony are detailed in Bug et al. (2019) described. The basis of the evaluations is the soil map of Lower Saxony 1: 50 000 (BK50).
