Air quality measurements & meteorological measurements. Annual Report on the Environment Agency 2022.

The Federal Environment Agency operates seven air quality centres at which background pollution, long-distance transport of air pollutants and trend of air quality are collected. The report shows the results of the 2022 measurements and the evolution of pollutant pollution over the last 30 years. The limit values for particulate matter (PM10, PM2.5), nitrogen dioxide, nitrogen oxides, sulphur dioxide and carbon monoxide as well as heavy metals and benzo(a)pyrene were met at all measuring points in 2022. The burdens have been at a similarly low level as in the last three years. Ozone levels in 2022 were slightly below the average of the last decades. Nevertheless, the target values for ozone to protect human health and vegetation were exceeded at two or four measuring points respectively.
