The waste management concept as a tool for waste prevention

The mandatory operational waste management concept serves to optimise the management of waste in companies. Experts from the Federal Environment Agency have evaluated the extent to which this tool is and can also be used for operational waste prevention. In addition, proposals have been drawn up on how to identify and exploit potential for waste prevention. Selected concepts were examined and interviews with waste officers, planners, consultants and representatives of public authorities were conducted. On the basis of the evaluation, the introduction of a two-stage waste management concept, the adaptation of legal framework conditions, an update of the BMLFUW guide and the development of an Internet platform to inform Austrian businesses, especially small and medium-sized enterprises, are recommended.强制性运营废物管理理念旨在优化企业的废物管理工作。奥地利联邦环境署的专家已评估该工具在企业废物预防中的现有应用程度与潜在应用可能。此外，研究团队还就如何识别并挖掘废物预防潜力提出了相关建议。本次研究对筛选出的相关理念进行了分析，并访谈了废物管理人员、规划人员、咨询顾问及公共部门代表。基于本次评估结果，研究建议推行两阶段废物管理理念、调整相关法律框架条件、更新奥地利联邦农林、环境与水资源部（BMLFUW）指南，并开发互联网平台以向奥地利企业，尤其是中小微企业，普及相关信息。
