Railway network

Digital base of the Andalusian railway network. It includes the different routes and their categories, being able to differentiate between the different existing widths (double track, normal gauge, narrow track), the route of the AVE or the decommissioned sections. Information is also available regarding the electrification of the track as well as the track gauge differentiating between UIC and Iberian gauge. It is generated with the intention of serving as a homogeneous reference for planning tasks of the Autonomous Administration. The information has been collected at various levels of observation, although it is assumed that 1:100.000 would be the minimum scale at which the representation is reliable. The data, which are in shape format, have been updated monthly since 1996 in the Ministry of Public Works and Transport, the body responsible for information, despite the fact that the competences regarding the railway network are the National Geographic Institute, Ministry of Development.
