This data set contains the name and location of hepatitis C testing and treatment clinics in Arizona. Information includes cost, health insurance acceptance, testing availability, treatment availability, phone numbers, hyperlinks to webpages, and an indicator for SSP services. Hepatitis C is a liver disease that results from infection with the hepatitis C virus (hep C). Hep C can cause acute and chronic liver disease. Acute hep C infection is a short-term illness that occurs within the first 6 months after someone is exposed to hep C. For most people, acute infection leads to chronic infection. Symptoms of chronic hepatitis C can take up to 30 years to develop. Hep C is often referred to as a silent epidemic because many people live with it for years and show no signs or symptoms until they have developed severe liver disease. Hep C is spread by exposure to blood from an infected person, such as through a blood transfusion or sharing needles. There is no evidence that hep C can be transmitted by casual contact, sharing food/drink, or by coughing or sneezing. Chronic hep C affects over 3 million people in the United States, most of whom are baby boomers (born 1945-1965). Hep C is one of the leading causes of liver cancer and liver transplants. There is no vaccine for hep C, but there is a cure available. Data was provided ADHS-Office of HIV & Hepatitis C Services Last Updated: October 2023 Update Frequency: Annually
