We utilized sediment cores from three Baltic Sea locations to study dinoflagellate and diatom shifts over the past century. Sedimentary ancient DNA (sedaDNA) was amplified using the eukaryotic primer pair Euka02 for metabarcoding. This study is part of the paper "Decoding the Baltic Sea's Past and Present: A Simple Molecular Index for Ecosystem Assessment," examining diatom and dinoflagellate species as alternative indicators of the Baltic Sea's environmental status.
