Foreign students at international exchange at the University of Ljubljana, 2013

The survey was conducted during the week of the Free University (15th-19). 4. 2013). The aim of the study was to compare UL students on an international exchange (ADP_IDNo. IZMDOM13) with foreign exchange students at the UL (this survey) according to knowledge, skills and conditions for study. The main purpose of the research is to fill the gap in the field of research related to the monitoring of international exchange in Slovenia (specifically at the UL), since none of the institutions related to the planning or implementation of the international exchange of students collects such data, let alone analyse it. The purpose of this database is to enable a comprehensive analysis of the comparability of domestic (UL) and foreign students according to the knowledge and skills required for study and acquired through studies, by study achievements and by study conditions. Based on the analysis of data, the most far-reaching objective of the research is to recommend improving the planning and implementation of international exchange programmes at the UL (and beyond in Slovenia) with the aim of raising the quality of the internationalisation of Slovenian higher education and, at the same time, the possibility of building education as a component of the soft power of the country in international relations.
