Unveiling the X-ray Properties of the PWN G63.7+1.1 with XMM-Newton
收藏资源简介:
PWNe offer a valuable astrophysical laboratory to study the physics of pulsaroutflows and their interaction with their surrounding medium. Their Xray studyin particular offers insights into the energetics of the powering engine, thecharacteristics of the pulsar wind, and the conditions of the confining ambientmedium. We propose a 70ks XMMNewton observation of G63.7+1.1, a PWN discoveredat radio wavelengths, but not yet explored in Xrays. Our proposed study, whencorrelated with our radio data obtained with the CGPS and the Effelsberg radiotelescope, and with new CO data acquired with the JCMT, should allow us toanswer many of the unknown yet basic properties of this object, including itsdistance, age, magnetic field geometry and strength, and the energetics of its powering engine. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
