LAPRO2009 — Safeguarding rare, close-to-natural soils within the framework of forest management (soil protection forest)

Especially rare soil types in a particularly natural form are among the special protected products from the point of view of soil protection. The landscape program therefore proposes rare soil forms on historical forest sites as areas with probably the slightest anthropogenic soil changes (“rare, near-natural soils”) for designation as soil conservation forests according to § 19 Landeswaldgesetz. Here, forest management should apply particularly gentle economic practices with regard to soil protection in terms of path development, stocking and machinery use. see Saarland Landscape Programme, Chapter 2.3.
