Groundwater regeneration from precipitation is a residual component of the water balance. It is described as the proportion of precipitation height reduced by actual evaporation and rapid runoff component. The groundwater regeneration rates shown in the map are the result of a modeling with qualitatively different input data. In each case, the best data base available throughout Bavaria was used in order to be able to make consistent statements across the board. Therefore, data sets from different scale ranges were used jointly for modelling. Examples include, on the one hand, the highly generalised survey map in the scale of 1:1.000.000 and on the other hand the detailed digital terrain model in a 50 m grid. Furthermore, data was worked on, which in some cases can also show significant regional differences in quality (e.g. groundwater level, regionalised station data of the different climate parameters). Therefore, the map sheet “Aquitainment of the Dry Period (1971-1973)” is a large-scale overview and allows a description of the regional conditions appropriate to the scale of 1:500.000. The use of the grid-related individual values for detail statements is not permitted methodically.
