Protection forest (Articles L.411-1 to L.413-1 of the Forest Code) May be classified as protective forests, for reasons of public utility (Article L411-1 of the Forest Code): * Forests whose conservation is recognised as necessary to maintain land on mountains and slopes, to protect against avalanches, erosions and flooding of waters and sands; * Woods and forests, regardless of their owners, located on the outskirts of large agglomerations, as well as in areas where maintenance is required, either for ecological reasons or for the well-being of the population.防护林（Protection forest）的适用范围对应《森林法典》（Forest Code）第L.411-1条至第L.413-1条的规定。出于公共利益目的（依据《森林法典》第L411-1条），下列林分可被归类为防护林： * 其保护被认定为维持山地与坡地土地稳定、抵御雪崩、水土流失及水沙泛滥所必需的森林； * 无论权属归属，坐落于大型城市群近郊，或因生态保护需求、民众福祉而需开展管护的林木与森林。
