Plants host unique microbial communities on their surfaces and within their tissues, forming what is known as the plant microbiome. This microbiome, particularly around the roots, acts as a crucial line of defense against soil-borne pathogens and aids in nutrient cycling. This study focuses on banana crops, examining how breeding for disease resistance influences the rhizosphere microbiome.
