This dataset contains annual indicators of victimization and insecurity in France, derived from the Life and Safety Framework Survey. The survey was conducted annually between 2007 and 2021 in collaboration with the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) and the Security Statistics Department of the Ministry of the Interior, with a sample size of 20,000 to 25,000 households. The data covers multiple analytical dimensions: number of victimization incidents, proportion of victimized households or individuals, multiple victimization, crime reporting rate, characteristics and backgrounds of victims and offenders, assessment of material, physical or psychological consequences, as well as individual perceptions of insecurity and satisfaction with the actions of the judiciary and security forces. These data are complementary to police records, as not all victims report crimes to authorities. The dataset specifically notes that the 2020 survey was suspended due to the COVID-19 pandemic, and the 2021 survey was primarily conducted via telephone, which may affect data comparability. Since 2022, this survey has been replaced by the Security Experience and Perception Survey. The dataset aims to promote open access to data related to crime and insecurity.
