The Oslo Standstill Database: motion capture and multimodal recordings of human standstill and micromotion, 2011–2025

Umbrella record for the Oslo Standstill Database (OSDB), a harmonised corpus of seven collections documenting human standstill and involuntary micromotion, gathered at the fourMs lab, RITMO Centre, and the Department of Musicology, University of Oslo, 2011–2025. The collections include: Championships of Standstill — seven public editions, 2012–2024, about 735 people competing to stand as still as they could. Six optical, one accelerometer. Sverm — the artistic-research project the whole line of work began in, 2011–2021, three performers recorded over a decade. Headphones–Speakers — a multimodal lab study, 43 people twice each, with optical capture, accelerometers, a balance board and a respiration belt. fNIRS standstill — frontal near-infrared spectroscopy recorded with a synchronous head IMU. Stillness 2025 — a group standstill performance at Deichman Bjørvika, recorded with wearable physiology. Taqāsīm — a cross-cultural listening study, 63 listeners in Amman and Oslo. In preparation. StillStanding365 — a single-subject daily-standstill self-experiment, one recording a day for a year. In preparation. The corpus spans two optical systems, Qualisys and OptiTrack, four optical sampling rates and fifteen years. This umbrella holds no recordings of its own: each collection is deposited as its own record. Five are published and linked above; the two marked in preparation will be linked as they appear.
