Protected areas: nature reserves

The county administrative boards and municipalities can form nature reserves according to the Environmental Code. Nature reserves are created “for the purpose of preserving biodiversity, nurturing and preserving valuable natural environments or meeting the needs of areas for outdoor recreation. An area needed to protect, restore or regenerate valuable natural habitats or habitats for protected species may also be declared as a nature reserve” (from the Environmental Code). Sweden has over 5,100 nature reserves.瑞典郡县行政委员会与自治市镇可依据《环境法典》设立自然保护区（nature reserves）。设立自然保护区的目的在于保护生物多样性、养护并留存具有价值的自然环境，或是满足户外休闲区域的使用需求；为保护、修复或复育具有价值的自然栖息地，或是受保护物种的栖息地所需的区域，同样可被划定为自然保护区（引自《环境法典》）。瑞典现有超过5100处自然保护区。
