This dataset is titled Average Monthly Earnings of African Employees by Sex, Economic Activity and Currency (ILOSTAT). It is a tabular dataset with 59,870 observations, covering 46 African countries over the period from 1969 to 2024. The core indicator is average monthly earnings (indicator code: EAR_EMTA_SEX_ECO_CUR_NB). The data is sourced from the ILOSTAT statistical database of the International Labour Organization (ILO), and was repackaged and released by Electric Sheep Africa. The dataset includes a detailed column structure comprising country code, country name, data source, indicator code, sex category (total, male, female), economic activity category, currency type, observation year, observed value, observation status and relevant notes. These data can be utilized to analyze temporal trends in employee earnings, gender disparities, disparities across different economic activities and the impact of currency types across African countries, and are suitable for machine learning tasks including tabular classification, regression analysis and time series forecasting. The data is released annually and has undergone standardization by the ILO to ensure data consistency and traceability.
