Design of Corrosion Resistant Ni-Cr-W Alloys for Additive Manufacturing

The use of additive manufacturing technologies is becoming more accepted across a range of industries for its ability to rapidly prototype parts, reduce fabrication times, and increase the freedom of design of components. There is however only a small range of commercially available alloys for use in additive manufacturing compared to conventionally manufactured alloys, necessitating the qualification of new alloys for additive manufacturing. This thesis examines the design of a Ni-Cr-W based alloy made to satisfy a broad range of performance criteria to limit the need to qualify a range of materials for the energy industry.
