Launched jointly by the U.S. National Cancer Institute (NCI) and the National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) in 2006, the program conducted molecular characterization of over 20,000 primary cancer and matched normal samples across 33 cancer types. The database contains multi-omics data including genomics, epigenomics, transcriptomics and proteomics, with a total data volume exceeding 2.5 PB, serving as a critical resource for research on cancer diagnosis, treatment and prevention.
