The ColorChecker Dataset was developed by Gehler et al. in 2008. It comprises 568 images captured in daily and travel scenarios, mostly shot in Cambridge using Canon 1D and Canon 5D cameras. This dataset is one of the most widely utilized datasets for evaluating the performance of light source estimation algorithms. The dataset was created with the goal of inferring the chromaticity of light sources; a Macbeth ColorChecker is placed in each image to determine the ground truth for light source estimation. The dataset construction process involves reprocessing linear images from raw files and calculating the ground truth of light sources according to the method proposed by Shi and Funt. The ColorChecker Dataset is mainly applied to the performance evaluation of light source estimation algorithms, aiming to address the accuracy issues in light source chromaticity inference.
