San Francisco Bay Region Major Transit Stops

This feature set contains major transit stops in the nine-county San Francisco Bay Region as defined in the California Public Resources Code, Section 21064.3: An existing rail transit station, a ferry terminal served by either a bus or rail transit service, or the intersection of two or more major bus routes with a frequency of service interval of 20 minutes or less during the morning and afternoon peak commute periods. The data set is a subset of the San Francisco Bay Region High Quality Transit Stops feature set. Source data was updated by the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans) in August 2026. Major Stops were derived for this feature set using the query hqta_type <> "hq_corridor_bus" to return all major transit stops for the San Francisco Bay Region. The hqta_types in this feature set are major_stop_brt, major_stop_bus, major_stop_ferry, and major_stop_rail.
