Developing a cell-free therapy for the treatment and prevention of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) and hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC)

This thesis examines the therapeutic effect of amniotic extracellular vesicles from an immortalised cell line as a novel approach to treat chronic liver injury. Beyond demonstrating therapeutic efficacy in treating chronic liver injury, this study highlights potential mechanisms by which the extracellular vesicles elicit their therapeutic effect and included the modulation of pathways linked to hepatic inflammation, fibrosis, and liver regeneration through protein and miRNA cargo.
