Nanobiotechnology Approaches for Diagnosis and Treatment of Inflammation and Atherothrombosis

In my PhD I explore early imaging and therapy of cardiovascular disease. Heart attack and stroke often arise out of undetected chronic inflammation. We aimed to improve detection of this inflammation, so that disease can be diagnosed and treated before advancing to life threatening thrombosis. Further, we developed successful rapid imaging of thrombosis using targeted molecular probes. Lastly we developed a system for gene therapy, to treat inflammation as it arises, and halt progression towards advanced disease.
