Large-scale maps on soil erosion hazards due to water and extended water network (outflow-effective depth lines):The extended water network contains drain-effective depth lines that connect to the water network. The exact location, spatial density and distribution pattern of these drainage paths for surface water are of great interest. In case of erosion, soil material is transported here and entered at crossing points in waters or settlement areas.The description of the depth lines takes place from a minimum size of the catchment area of 5 ha. The following points to be considered: In settlement areas, the course of the depth lines must be critically questioned, since the calculation based on the digital terrain model DGM 5 does not take into account information on settlement drainage (e.g. inlet shafts). In areas with large-scale low slope inclinations (e.g. parts of the forepfalz, Landstuhler Bruchs or the Neuwieder Basin), the course of the depth lines is often not plausible. Where artificial drainage trenches exist, the modeling result must also be critically questioned. At road or motorway dams, the lack of information on the location of dam passages can lead to an unrealistic course of the deep lines along the roads.
