XMM-Newton study of optically selected dual AGN detected in 4XMM

We propose a fulfil programme to observe a sample of optically selected dual AGNdetected in 4XMM. Key objective is the study of dual systems in early stages ofmerging showing signs of interaction on galaxy scales (4080virgulkpc) and derivetheir properties such as absorption, spectral shape and intrinsic Xrayluminosity.We will compare the results of this study with those obtained from samples ofmergers with only one AGN, in order to shed light on the possible role of thegalactic environment in triggering nuclear activity. truncated!, Please see actual data for full text [truncated!, Please see actual data for full text]
