Euglena gracilis Transcriptome
Euglenophytes originated from a secondary endosymbiosis between a phagotrophic euglenid and a green alga, resulting in plastids with a complex evolutionary history. This project focuses on the structural characterization of photosystem I from the euglenophyte Euglena gracilis using cryo electron microscopy. By resolving the PSI LhcE LhcbM supercomplex, the study investigates the organization of lineage specific light harvesting complexes and their roles in adaptation to changing light conditions. The generated data provide a structural framework for understanding plastid evolution and photosynthetic diversity within the green lineage.
